Athletics
The Milby High School Athletics Department is home to the Buffaloes, upholding a nearly century-old tradition of competitive sports in Houston's East End.
The department's philosophy centers on the core belief that student-athletes are students first, athletes second, encouraging them to reach beyond expectations through discipline, time management, and ethical behavior.
Programs and Achievements
Milby offers a comprehensive range of sports for both boys and girls, including:
-
Team Sports: Football, Basketball (Boys & Girls), Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer (Boys & Girls), Water Polo, and Golf.
-

The Buffaloes boast a rich history, highlighted by two Boys' Basketball State Championships (1950 and 2004). More recently, the Baseball program has had historic runs, including winning its district and advancing to the regional semifinals for the first time in program history, under the leadership of a coaching staff primarily composed of Milby alumni. The department takes pride in developing young men and women for future success, both on and off the field.
